aahh, FOOOOOOOOOODD!!!

the best time in Ramadhan is of course, breaking fast hehe...so this year, we (we?) tried a few new menus...well actually, i only help in giving comments, though i can't cook any better n in fact, i never really tried cooking haha...so, though i say it's awful, i still eat it aha!...anyway it's food, no harm eating~

ramadhan this year, mama spent a week in JB n then in KL, then to JB again n then back to KL...so those days that mama went to JB, abang will cook...owh n not to forget, apam was there too hehe...so i actually travelled quite a few places for buka haha...well, at least almost...

in other words...those were the days i've to bear weird-tasting food for iftaar huhu

so here are some of the pictures taken on the day we had overseas menu on the dining table...n some malaysian food that turned out differently...also the days we had chef hafiz & apam, super-supervisor: hani, n abang's kitchen assistant: bibik (hahaha) in the kitchen..

2nd week:
wednesday (3/9)
country:
France.

description:
abang & apam made omelettes with fillings...that was a good one! two thumbs up!!
however, was a sooo frustrated on the Tau Foo Fa he bought from bazaar...not to mention why~

thursday (4/9)
country:
Malaysia...but now i think, maybe Mexico? ahaha...

description:
was supposed to be chicken rice...but the chicken turned out to be quite sour...so it tastes almost like Nando's chicken...considered quite successful i think haha...anyway, that's how davisson & germer by accident found that slow electrons diffract when collides with nickel surface which confirms de broglie's - every particle has it's own wavelength...the same way we discovered nando's secret recipe by accidentally squeezing extra lemon in the chicken...

friday (5/9)

country:
supposedly Japan & a little bit of China i guess or anywhere Dim Sum & pau originates.

description:
having Wagyu beef in mind, we invented this! beef cutlets marinated with almost everything we got in the fridge (seriously everything; sushi vinegar, BBQ sauce, dark soy sauce, light soy sauce, japanese dark sauce, oyster sauce, some onions, n i think a little bit of squid sauce), cooked in 3 different ways (stir fried by abang, put it in microwave oven n tekan-tekan till it cooks haha by me, and steamed in the dim sum thingy), eaten in 2 different ways (eat it just like that or wrap it with seaweed)...we found that eating it with seaweed was something we haven't tasted in any japanese restaurant...walla, a new invention! ...but eating it alone, tastes just a little bit more international than home made daging masak kicap haha...also some instant paus n seaweed soup with fishballs adding to the menu...owh n must be eaten with korean chopsticks - the flat type! ahaha

sunday (7/9)
country:
no idea but very sure that it was ayah's own recipe.

description:
ayah cooked Cod fish with celery i think...n was seriously, kalah san francisco woo (well, if they have that in the menu)!!! ...which daniel overheard the word 'cod' on monday n said "what? cod? why don't ask me to go eat at your house...OMG u ate cod yesterday!.."

tuesday (9/9)

country:
Malaysia & wherever cheesecake originates.

description:
we started to make some kuihs n deserts for buka puasa...kuih cara, apam ice-cream soda & cheesecake...surprisingly, the cheesecake was perfecto! n the girls was soo kagum with the fact that abang bake it...we can open a cafe!~

wednesday (10/9)

country:
somewhere out of Asia i'm sure.

description:
we still got some extra bananas after making banana splits and banana milkshake for the past few days (btw, i made that!)...so mama bake banana crumble out of it...well, this time seriously, kalah Crepes at The Apartments huhu~

saturday (13/9)

country:
Japan, specifically Johor Bahru for the bandung soda, & Thailand (the table mat ahaha).

description:
zamer, wawa, nabila & alyn came over for break fast...since ayah was at home on that day, the menu was even more special...ayah prepared Udon & seafood, mama prepared some mackerel Teriyaki & bandung soda, and abang, some Sushis n Kimbaps which the girls enjoy rolling it! n me, i put the dipping sauces in the plate haha...anyway, it was a wonderful dinner!!

sunday (14/9)
country:
Japan & great Britain i think...

description:
ayah prepared some Wagyu beef with Blue Cheese sandwich for moreh ahaha...

monday (15/9)

.Kare..keli teriyaki.
.beef teriyaki.
.konnyaku.
country:
Japan

description:
apam & nordin (another abang's friend) came n tried some new japanese cooking...apam made Kare, japanese curry, which was OK but i think i like our Malaysian curry better...abang prepared sushi but the rice was spoiled by his kitchen assistant ahaha! anyway, abang's Miso soup was just as Sushi King's but without tofu...owh btw, we managed to buy the actual Kochujang that i had mention in the previous post..so that's why the soup taste better...and abang attempt a desert which i don't know what that was, made of kiwi n the original japanese Konnyaku (yam jelly)...and there was beef teriyaki & catfish teriyaki on the dining table which i don't know who cooked it...n maybe it didn't work because Unagi is soo not catfish, keli...Unagi is eel...owh n nordin as the commenter of the day huhu...

tuesday (16/9)
country:
...everywhere, in a plate!

description:
went iftaar with the girls -seri, nabila, alyn, zamer...at international something, can't remember the name hee...our set dishes were mixed cuisines from around the world i guess aha...nabila's has taco, macaroni & cheese, grilled chicken, and a toast...alyn's has buttered rice, garden salad, and strips of beef...seri's has taco, spaghetti bolognese, garlic bread, and a chicken drumstick...zamer's has beef steak and spaghetti bolognese...mine has sandwiches, spaghetti bolognese, and cream of chicken soup...owh n 5 glasses of ice lemon tea...very international huh?

wednesday (17/9)
.Paella.
.the tapas.
country:
Spain

description:
so spain was chosen today...the tapas (appetizer), was the weirdest ahaha...imagine this, a fish cutlet like half cooked (don't know whether spanish people really eat it half cooked or abang didn't cook it properly haha) placed on top of a slice of orange, then both on a slice of baguette, and some onions as toppings...well, the cook himself said "tapas ni tak jadi" so i don't dare take a bite hee...owh but the paella was almost like the one we ate in Seville last year...just that the real paella has darker colour ('thicker' taste) & a little bit wet...
link to the paella we ate in Seville

thursday (18/9)
country:
entah laa...

description:
we bought pita bread a week ago...i thought of having beef-pita-whateverthenameis for buke...something like the one they sell at bazaar Ramadhan but i don't know how to describe it to the cook...so...it turned out to be something else...yang sangat lain OK...n btw, sangat tak jadi also...n so, i just ate koko crunch...a lot nicer!~

friday (19/9)
country:
China

description:
abang cooked something called General Tso's Chicken which ayah commented, "macam ayam masak kicap but nice, really Chinese style, boleh masak lagi dekat rumah johor" huhu...also a soup, Egg Flower soup that abang accidentally laa kot put in a lot of chicken stock till it tastes like 'sup maggi ayam letak telur'...(fyi, i gave that name aha!)...haih 'susah-susah je' (udin 2008) put in the egg following the instruction...huhu...

thursday (25/9)
country:
malaysia

description:
mama bought soy bean drinks from bazaar...after tarawikh, the air soy bean already a Tau Foo Fa...

friday (26/9)
.Kung Pao chicken.
country:
China

description:
another chef came over, apam...so abang masak Mabu Dofu, & apam cook that thing above huhu...and both sedap!!

saturday (27/9)
country:
malaysia

description:
the most successful attempt of making raya cookies!!
"i'll be making this every year!" -hani-

sunday (28/9)
country:
China i think...

description:
supposedly some paus, but it looks like white plasticines...hehehe... ^_^

So how should I write it in my CV?

Lots of things happen these few weeks…or perhaps months…but I didn’t quite have the time to blog it…so ok I’ve been quite busy with uni application recently apart from having loads of DIs and practical test & fasting month!…owh n I’m also busy completing my first CV…

Things were just fine at first; I managed to decode all the cryptography codes for maths DI though the day 1 on network matrices was a little bit chaotic…and maths test was quite ok…
Chemistry practical day 3 had never been better…well, after a so systematically errored experiment results were obtained on day 2…aha! ~
And it all started with physics practical test, which was a no no…
Then spec.maths was even worse…I screwed up day 2!! And I thought day 1 could save me…

So today ms.logesh distributed our day 1 results…n I was half surprised and the other half just not surprised at all that I only got just a few marks…n all those people around me who had never been confident, even got double of mine…I remember the last time ms.logesh announce our internal results up to last semester, I was no where above half of the total marks…what about this time then? on day 2's DI, I can’t seem to find out what did I do wrong till I got 0=0 when dy/dx is maximized, in question 3…so I keep on calculating the previous question, n I sill got the same (7/x)(5/x) = (35/x)…I calculated again…again…until it was almost time up …that was only question 2 OK…I’ve like 4 more questions yet to answer n I finally gave up n left it blank…I didn’t even get the first two question correct…n I realized that mistake i made as I hear them discussing that (7/x)(5/x) = (35/x2)…So I guess this DI didn’t contribute any marks to my internal…as if I didn’t sit for it…

Stupid careless mistakes.I feel stupid. Very very stupid.

I’ve just completed my CV yesterday…I need it to apply scholarships...n i wrote in it, “will be completing SAM with an expected results of TER 90”…
will I ever get 90 or is it too much for me to dream? But if I were to put 85, that means I’ve turned down 2 offers which needs me to obtain higher than TER85…n I, wasn’t even confident of 85 either…

I wonder what the uni people think when they send me the conditional offers…do they see potential in me? Or they just simply gave conditional offers without analyzing the applicants…

89.45 – Queensland
86.3 – Monash
85 – Melbourne

The first time I saw that email from Monash, I was as if given a new hope…n for the first time ever, I feel appreciated…and that time when I was almost failed to get my Queensland uni application fee waived because of my not-outstanding-at-all mid year results, I was disappointed…but surprisingly, Queensland offered me a place conditionally…part of me said it’s a sign that I shouldn’t give up coz there’s always hope…

and there's a great big BUT bothering me when i spoke to gajen...(btw, he actually said this in malay, plus i was impressed that he talks like a typical malay aha!) "kalau tak dapat conditional offer tu bukan setakat mati je, tu dah masuk kubur...critical sangat dah tu" ...hah!?

apart from that, last year ms.hoe explained to us bout this TER thing, that SSABSA seriously has a weird way of calculating marks...moderation bla bla...n there was this guy, he got some Bs, Cs n an A if i'm not mistaken...n he got TER85...i was like what? really that easy?...(which i really don't like knowing that it's easy)

but this year really change my thoughts...

so what now?

I, used to have soo much confidence in me…but I don’t know where it went now…

I want to get scholarship.
I want to study abroad – Australia.
I want to enter a really good university.
I want to be an environmental engineer.
Above all,
I want ayah & mama to be happy.
